Dr. Bob Burt created The Burt Group in 1997 to focus on developing the capabilities of people to lead, manage, and work together effectively in a corporate environment. The majority of his consulting activity involves developing and delivering customized training for team leaders, supervisors, and experienced technical employees.

 Prior to becoming an independent consultant in 1997, Bob was employed by Conoco Inc., a large integrated international petroleum company, for sixteen years. While at Conoco, he held a variety of senior professional and manager roles related to human resource development. As Director, Organization & Personnel Development, he provided worldwide corporate leadership about management and executive development, executive succession planning, corporate employee opinion survey, 360º feedback, supervisory training, organization development and career development. His major emphasis was developing outstanding people development systems that were integrated with each other and directly supported the needs of the business. 

Bob received his Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the University of Tennessee – Knoxville. He belongs to the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. He served as chair of the Oklahoma Partnership (a joint venture among Oklahoma University, Oklahoma State University, and major employers in Oklahoma to provide executive development within the state), as a member of the Oil Industry Human Resource Development Group, and as chair of the American Petroleum Institute Subcommittee on Personnel Research. 

He lives with his wife in Madison, Wisconsin.
